When evaluating a patient as a whole, pieces of information acquired through specialized lab testing can be invaluable. At the True Healing and Wellness Institute, we utilize the most progressive tests to ensure we have a complete picture of your health and can guide you down the path toward maximized wellness.
Advanced Hormone Panels
We utilize the DUTCH hormone panel, a comprehensive urinary hormone panel that you can complete in the comfort of your own home. This panel provides the most extensive view of hormone balance, conversion, and metabolism, allowing our doctors to understand the nuances of your particular hormone picture and create the steps needed for you to bring your hormones back into balance.
Vitamin and Nutrient Deficiency Testing
Nutritional balance is a necessity for optimal health and wellness, chronic disease prevention and to promote longevity. We all face challenges of GMO food, nutrient depleted soil, and trying to absorb nutrients through vitamins and other supplements to make up for areas in which our bodies are lacking. We utilize SpectraCell, a micronutrient test that tests for deficiencies of 35 nutritional components including vitamins, anti-oxidants, minerals and amino acids within white blood cells. This information helps our doctors to create a customized plan to get your nutrition at its most optimal levels.
Telomeres are sections at the end of each chromosome, which shorten during cell replication as we age. Eventually, the telomere becomes so short that replication isn’t possible, which leads to cellular death. Telomere testing is the ultimate way to measure longevity at the cellular level. By lowering inflammation and oxidative stress, telomere attrition (dying off) can be slowed, therefore, annual telomere testing is a great way of assessing the effectiveness of your wellness routine and appropriately measure how “gracefully” you are aging.
Cardiovascular Health Screening
Cardiovascular disease is not only the #1 killer in the United States, but is so often a silent one. Most of us are oblivious to the destruction occurring within our vessels. We understand the importance of catching cardiovascular disease in the early stages. To do this, we utilize the most advanced lipid panels, inflammatory markers, and high-sensitivity cardiac stress markers, in order to appropriately determine the condition of your blood vessels, heart burden and risk for a CVD event. The results of this testing allow us to cater our treatment protocol accurately and completely. Our approach is about True Healing, not just altering lab values.
Proper blood sugar balance is an integral piece of achieving optimal wellness. Insulin resistance and diabetes are a growing epidemic in today’s society, and can be the initiating factor in a number of chronic ailments. We seek not only to identify and correct the blood sugar disease processes, but also optimize your existing range. Blood sugar imbalances are highly treatable and, once resolved, a patient often experiences the alleviation of many associated symptoms.
Adrenal Stress Testing
The adrenals are little glands on top of the kidneys that release a hormone called cortisol, aka “the stress hormone.” Most people are affected by stress in some way, shape or form and disruption in cortisol rhythm, due to stress, is a common problem. Adrenal stress testing evaluates the levels of cortisol over the course of 24 hours. Cortisol is involved in the maintenance of blood sugar, melatonin, thyroid hormone, weight, bone health and energy levels. This test is very useful in evaluating conditions such as glycemic dysregulation, chronic fatigue, food cravings, weight gain, poor sleep quality and hypothyroidism, among others.
Food Sensitivity / Intolerance Testing
Traditionally, food allergies are considered true allergies only when they elicit physical symptoms, such as throat closure, hives, itchy mouth or ear canal, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea. We understand, though, that sensitivities or intolerances to certain foods can present atypical symptoms, or even reactions that cause systemic dysfunction, only visible through test results. Symptoms such as migraine, cough, depression, inflammation, joint pain, anxiety, stomach bloat, fatigue and others can be attributed to food sensitivities. Once discovered and removed, patients can experience a lessening or alleviating of symptoms that they had no idea were stemming from food.
Heavy Metal Testing
Heavy metal testing is done to determine the level of heavy metals that exist in the body after someone has been acutely or chronically exposed. The testing can also be used to monitor improvement after chelation or a detox treatment. Commonly tested heavy metals include Lead, Mercury, Arsenic and Cadmium. Many individuals are unaware of their exposure, but we are exposed to heavy metals through our food, water and environment on a regular basis. Accumulation of these heavy metals can lead to long term health complications, so a thorough history and testing is important to help determine whether heavy metals are contributing to your symptoms.
